Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On?!!?

Today’s CMI should make Cuspid pretty happy. I certainly love the Beatles, but this song is definitely one I could take or leave. More leave than take. I know that CMI likes to present ska versions of many of the tunes we’re evaluating on here, but you can’t really ska-ify everything, and this song is a good example, I think. Doesn’t work for me. As for Dos Pugadas, next time I want to hear Tattoo from Fantasy Island do a Beatles song, I’ll let them know. This one goes to Paul Weller, hands down.
I really wanted to vote for Paul Weller because I’ve been a big fan of The Jam for decades. So I listened to them all and…okay, I voted Weller.
I remember seeing Kiss unmasked many years after their heyday. I thought to myself, “Now I know why those guys insisted on wearing makeup all those years. I’m reminded of this because of the less-than-clear video of The Aggrolites. Somethin’ tells me we’re better off with a blurry shot of them, ’cause I don’t think any of them would be mistaken for Leif Garrett.
I started out liking Weller’s version but it lost steam as it went on. Good cover but not all too special. I enjoyed both The Aggrolites and Dos Pulgades versions. I found it difficult choosing between the two. The lead singer for The Aggrolites really has the “Bono Peacock Stage Strut” down. That might be the reason I ultimately went with Dos Pulgades.
