Long intro. Song begins around the 1:30 mark.

Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On?!!?

For some reason I can’t get the Eric Ambel video to play. It says it’s “Not Available”. So instead I found a band on YouTube called Bony King doing a cover of Revolution Blues instead. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7STKxCI_qQ). And in perhaps a first for CMI, I am hijacking this competition and voting for Bony King. The version by Lee Renaldo and Cowboys on Dope are indeed good. But I was immediately taken with the Bony King version. I think they did the best at channeling the chill feeling of Neil Young’s original.

Follow-up: Bony King is from Belgium. They are also known as the Bony Kings of Nowhere. I’m listing to a bunch of their songs on YouTube and am really impressed.Their lead singer Bram Vanparys sounds a cross between Neil Young and Thom York (Radiohead), and I mean that in it’s most positive, complimentary way. It just goes to show ya that if you hang around CMI long enough there is not telling what delights one might encounter.

Oddly enough, your link doesn’t work for me. I get a message reading “It is not available in your country”.

But I also didn’t realize it’s permissible to vote for artists not featured. Heck, I have a version on a CD by Waco Brothers that I like better than any of these covers.

It’s surprising how many music industry people knew Manson.

  4. Cuspid says:

Kerry – Wow! The link doesn’t work?! There must be some kind of hook in place within YouTube that allows/prevents videos from be viewed based on one’s IP address. I often get the “… not available in your country” message as well. But I thought that computers in the USA has access to everything. Too bad. It’s a great version of Revolution Blues by Bony King. I’ve listened to it 3 times already.

  5. Cuspid says:

Different link, same great version. See if this works in the USA: http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/Sjas18wjAZY/

How much longer can I keep posing this stuff before Dubbsy bans me from this thread?

  7. Arnold Plotnick says:

I gave this one to Cowboys on Dope. Wait a second… I retract that. I give it to Bony King instead!

  8. RDubbs says:

it came down to Eric Ambel or Lee Ranaldo for me. I like Ambel’s vocals a lot more but prefer Ranaldo’s guitar licks. What’s a moderator to do? Vote for Eric Ambel that’s what.
