As a rule I do not include covers from tribute bands. But for reasons beyond my comprehension, I made an exception on this one.

Oh the disharmony! Much like Harlan County there are no neutrals here. It is your solemn responsibility to decide which cover song prevails. In other words … Which Side Are You On?!!?
Disclaimer: Votes cast from Florida may or may not be counted.
All the versions here are competent enough. But only Mike Scott had the foresight to sing the song in his own voice instead of doing an impression of Bruce Springsteen’s voice, as is the case with all the other versions. I would have liked to hear a Japanese neo-mod revival version.
Well… I didn’t like any of the covers, really. But I’ll go along with Cuspid’s reasoning. What’s the point of totally imitating Bruce? Silly. I didn’t like the Waterboys version, but I picked it. So sue me.
This really was not a fair fight. Although, I agree with Arnie. I don’t like The Waterboys’ version all that much either. They could have done so much better (especially if they had enlisted help from Vidar Vadseth).
