Three very admirable covers. I’m going with Uncle Bard and the gang for a very novel approach to the instrumentation. I think the spoons especially would have made a nice addition to the original. 🙂
Really loved the understated acoustic version. I thought that would be a winner but those Dirty Bastards really amazed me with their take. I now want to hear all of my favorite rocking Irish songs reinterpreted with uilleann pipe solos in place of guitar. The third place version was pretty solid too but third. I have a CD by The Filthy Thieving Bastards but I guess no relation.
